Dear Families of Saint Peter School,

We hope this message finds everyone healthy and safe during this unprecedented time as we welcome each of you and your families to the 2020-2021 school year.  We would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new principal, Mr. Patrick Boyden, who has been working tirelessly over the summer with our amazing staff and various committee members to ensure a safe opening of our doors.

The main function of the Parent Association (PA) is to support the Advancement Office with major fundraising initiatives as well with community outreach, teacher appreciation and school spirit.  This year, more than ever, we hope to support our staff and students as they adjust to a new normal.  In order to do so everything will be reimagined and, with your help, we will be successful.  All parents are automatically members of the PA and your involvement will make a difference to both you and your child(ren) as well as have an enormous impact on the entire Saint Peter community. This year, all PA meetings will be held virtually on the first Wednesday  of every month at 6pm so be on the lookout for your Zoom invitation.  Even if you are unable to attend our monthly meetings, we always welcome your interest and involvement in any way!

We truly are excited to co-chair the PA this school year and grateful to be working with you as a community of parents, students and staff to make the school year a memorable and rewarding one, regardless of what is sent our way.  Let’s work together to make Saint Peter School the best place for our children to grow and learn!

In good health,

Wendy Burns (parent of grade 1 and grade 3 students) and Kathyr Ranger (parent of a grade 3 student)

Kicking off the school year with a big ask is not the way we envisioned the year but 2020 is unlike any other so here it is…

This year more so than any other time before we are asking for your time.  Throughout the school day our students will be given several “mask breaks’ outside. In order to give teachers time to prepare lesson plans, have their own break, etc. we have an enormous need for parents to volunteer for “yard duty.”  The playground, turf and church lawn will all be utilized throughout the mornings and afternoons to give our students ample amount of outside time.  If you are able to carve out even 20 minutes on a weekly basis to monitor students while teachers grade papers, prep lessons, etc. it would be incredibly impactful.  Please view this Google Sign Up Sheet for blocks of time.  Scroll up, down and all around to find something that works for you!  Saint Peter School staff would be beyond grateful for your gift of time.

A few things to note:

  •  We ask that you commit to the block of time from the beginning of the school year until Christmas break (EX. every Monday from 9:00am-9:20am on the Turf).
  • This will only be for outside breaks (playground, turf, lawn).  Should weather run afoul and students take their time inside, you will not need to be present for your time slot.  You will be notified in advance if your help is not needed that day.
  • All volunteers will need to fill out and submit a CORI form as well have completed online Virtus training.
  • Principal Boyden will conduct an orientation for all volunteers on Friday, September 4th from 9-10am to review protocols.

Teacher Wishlist

You can view the list for each teacher and staff member here:

Notes on Shipping:

  1. Wish lists work like a wedding/baby registry. Things like quantity needed are listed. Once an item is purchased from a list it is automatically taken off the list.
  2. Some teachers requested items not available on Amazon such as educational subscriptions or crafts from Oriental Trading Post.  Check out the “notes” section at the top of a teacher page to see these. Formatting the notes section is no easy task so apologies for the presentation.
  3. The shipping address for the school is 96 Concord Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138 and the phone number is (617) 517-0101.
  4. Please note the teacher/classroom as the recipient. We all know sometimes Amazon is quirky so if you include a gift note in the box as well that would be helpful.
  5. The school Tax ID # is 11623763.
