Parents

September 14, 2022

Dear Saint Peter School Parent Community,

We hope this message finds everyone healthy and well as we welcome each of you and your families to the 2022-2023 school year.   All parents are automatically members of the Parent Association (PA) and your involvement will make a difference to both you and your child(ren) as well as the larger Saint Peter community.  We have monthly meetings and there are so many ways to get involved. The meeting schedule will soon be shared in the SPS weekly newsletter. Each class has 1 or 2 PA representatives.

The focus of the PA will broaden in its scope this year; in the past, the focus was primarily on supporting the advancement office for fundraising purposes. We plan to focus more on volunteer opportunities and community engagement.  This year will feel more normal for us as parents, the relaxing of covid restrictions will allow us more opportunities to be present and involved with various activities in the school and our children’s classrooms.

If you are interested in volunteering there are 2 requirements- completion of an annual CORI check (criminal background check) as well as a one time requirement by the archdiocese to complete Virtus training (increased awareness around sexual predators and general safety when working with young children). The CORI form and VIRTUS instructions are attached to this email.  If you have not already done so complete the CORI form, attach a copy of your license, State ID or passport and return it in person to Mrs. Flynn in the main office. We need and love volunteers so please consider completing these soon!

This Friday, September 16th is our school wide picnic for enrolled families from 5:30-7:30 pm in our school parking lot/turf area!  Come and have something from the grill! Chef Doug will be cooking and SPS staff will be present as well.  There will be a uniform swap table with plenty of hoodies and fleeces. Fill up a bag for $25.

We are excited to begin our 2 year term as co-chairs of the PA.  We are grateful for this opportunity and we look forward to working together as a community of parents, students, and staff.

Please reach out with any questions!

Sincerely,
