How often will SPS offer COVID-19 testing for students and staff?
We are aiming to provide weekly testing. Right now, we have weekly testing dates confirmed through mid-October.
When will testing be offered?
Right now, testing is offered every Thursday after school, from 4-6pm.
The testing is a "drive-thru" model, so you never even have to get out of your car!
Does the test hurt?
No! The Broad test is a simple lower nasal swab. It's quick, non-invasive, and totally painless. Check out this video of Principal Boyden getting tested!
Who conducts the testing?
Right now, we are offering the Broad Institute's RT-PCR test. Currently, trained medical clinicians from PhysicianOne conduct the tests on-site.
Starting in October, we will be partnering with the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) and Cataldo Ambulance for testing logistics.
How accurate are the tests?
The Broad Institute's PCR tests are among the most accurate tests currently available. For comprehensive information on , please check out the Broad's website: https://covid-19-test-info.broadinstitute.org/.
How long does it take to receive test results?
Results are communicated within ~24 hours.
Are other schools doing testing?
While no other school of Saint Peter's size or resources is currently offering a comparable testing program, universities such as Harvard and MIT are offering the same tests.
How much does testing cost?
To offset the significant costs required to offer weekly testing, families will be charged $50 per test.
Is financial aid available if my family needs support to pay for testing?
Yes, thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, Saint Peter School has established a COVID-19 Testing Fund. If you are in need of financial assistance for testing, please contact Principal Boyden at pboyden@saint-peter-school.org.
